Your Reputation

How Will You Be Remembered?

As you go about your business everyday you probably don’t think too much about what you will be remembered for. That’s quite understandable. If you are doing things right you’re focused on a set of tasks aimed at furthering your ultimate goals in life. No time to think about the possibility you won’t be around on the morrow. But your reputation will be a reflection of how you lived your life.

Money Is Not It

Most of us who actually have definite goals, place earning a specific amount of money among them. While money isn’t everything and it’s value is related only to that for which it can be exchanged, a sufficient amount is necessary for achievement of one’s potential. But nobody will remember you for the money you accumulated, or the material things you were able to acquire because of it. That won’t constitute your reputation.

You’ll be remembered for the kind of person you were; your character and the degree to which you did, or did not, contribute to the betterment of those around you.

Kindness is a cause, as is gratitude. Be kind to others as a matter of habit and you’ll discover you have more and more things for which you will be grateful. And you will be remembered fondly as one of the kindest, most considerate and successful people your family, friends and associates ever knew.

Promise yourself the following

Wherever I go I leave a gift. It may be a trinket, a flower, a prayer, or a compliment, but I promise I will give something to every person I encounter.

I promise to be a grateful receiver of the gifts that surround me, pausing often to notice nature, kindness, smiles and compliments; all of which I gladly receive with a “thank you”!

I promise to give hope for joy, affluence, kindness and love, consciously, with every encounter regardless of brevity.

I promise to give, without expectation of reciprocity from the channels I enrich, because I know I am in the dynamic flow of giving and receiving.

Your Reputation and the Golden Rule

I know I must give to receive and that living by “The Golden Rule” is a habit leading to wealth in both material and spiritual realms. It’s a fact a pauper who gives what he can will be remembered more fondly than the wealthy magnate who believes his fame lies in the accumulation of gold.

So spend 30 minutes daily concentrating your thoughts upon the person you intend to become. Make a habit of including in your vision the good things you do for which you will be remembered. Your reputation will live long after your passing. What will it be?
